アオジ・ツチガエル / Black-faced bunting and Wrinkled frog

It is a combination of small stories. All photos are taken in Yamaguchi pref.

A mountain stream that I had a good view of while birding.

A sprout or a different plant was growing out of the tip of a sharp, spiky decayed tree.

The sharp shape and the texture of the bark in the hard light caught my attention.

A wrinkled frog. Commonly known as "warty frogs".

When I was a kid, I think I used to treat all brown frogs as warty frogs.

These frogs don't run away easily when I approach them with my camera. The frogs in the grass finally run away just before I step on them, so I feel like I might accidentally step on them.

It stinks when caught, so I'm not sure if it's confident that it can escape even if a predator comes near, or if it's just trying to pass itself off as a piece of grass with its protective colors.

I think this is a juvenile black-faced bunting.

It's hard to identify a bird with this kind of color pattern on the spot. After staring at the picture book and checking similar images on the Internet, I decided that I was pretty sure.

A juvenile black-faced bunting feeding on an insect. This is a different bird from the one in the photo above.
